Flight of Halloween Eve... part two

Continuing from the last post this is actually the second page of the book (with the ravens) and the pocket page showing parts of the fronts of the two tags. The pocket page opens out to show the two page spread in the last post. I used the new Spellbinders Halloween dies on the tag fronts as well as the cool Martha Stewart spider web punch.
Here is the back of the book. If you click on the pictures to make them larger you may notice the left knee has a different joint. This is because the little orange eyelets are way too small for this weight of cardstock and his lower leg bone kept popping off until I used a tiny gold brad. I told my son (who of course commented on it first thing!) the skeleton had had knee replacement surgery. HA!

Flight of Halloween Eve... part one

So here is the front cover of a Halloween mini-book I made for my son. It started out life as a make and take that never was finished from several years ago. Featured is the "Boogie Man".

Of course he is dancing, what else would the Boogie Man do?
Here are a couple more pages from the book. I didn't get my pictures in order. Of course the book is "from Mummy".
One page in the book has a pocket with two tags. Here you can see the pocket and the back of the two tags. Only a boy would want you to smell his feet on October 31. I'll finish off the rest of the pages in the next post.

Flight of Challenge (Just For Fun #14)

The Friday challenge on the Just For Fun Rubber Stamps blog this week (Color Challenge #14) is Monochromatic - Shades of Any One Color. Of course the NWFlamingo chose PINK! The inside background stamp is from Just For Fun and I thought highlighted the dots on the plastic frame. The flamingo is a Viva Las Vegas Stamps stamp. The little plastic frame item that forms the flap on the card front is from Heidi Grace.

The purse is make from a piece of wide light pink ribbon, with a narrower, darker pink ribbon for the band. The purse kind of poofs out at the bottom like a real handbag because I put a pleat in the bottom. It looks flat because I had to use the scanner as the camera just wasn't able to handle all the dimension. I left the card blank for a future use.

Flight of Challenge (Just For Fun #13))

Well gee whiz...who knew Just For Fun Stamps had themselves a blog with challenges and a Design Team and everything good like that? Just For Fun used to come out to the west coast for stamp conventions, at least I remember them for many years at Puyallup. They always had one of my favorite make and takes at the show. They also used to have a "club" with directions for a project online that they would post and give you a discount if you ordered the stamps for that project. Once in a great while I will get an e-mail announcing an on-line sale. I thought maybe they had disappeared but an e-mail came announcing their blog. Seems it has been going on since February. As I said, who knew?

This week the challenge is to use orange, black and white in a card. Being a proud Oregon State University graduate I couldn't pass up an opportunity to use orange and black! The card was cut from Worldwin Doublemates paper using a Sizzix XL Bigz die. The stamp I used on the front of the card is one of the last ones I remember ordering from Just For Fun.

The viewers are stamped on white with black pigment ink and embossed with black embossing powder. The words(outside and inside) I typed on the computer and cut out. Inside the stamps on the pop-up are from G-rated Rubber stamps (another great company that seems to have disappeared, at least from the stamp show circut). I used an orange Sharpie to color in the Happy Birthday, an orange Sakura glaze pen on the streamers and stars in the letter backgrounds and a black Copic marker on the borders. The piece was scalloped using a Stampin'Up scallop border punch. The glasses were cut on my Cricut(Paisley cartridge) as well as the 3 and D (Lyrical Letters cartridge). I had some red and blue plastic film from florist bouquets to complete the 3D glasses authentic look.

Maybe with the blog "popping up" this will signal a bunch of new Just For Fun stamps and with any luck we will see them back on the west coast at the Heirloom Puyallup Stamp Show where this year there seemed to be a lot more buyers than vendors.

Flight of Challenge (Moxie Fab Taintor-tude)

The Moxie Fab World blog is featuring a "Taintor-tude Challenge". You are to pattern your card after the work of Anne Taintor, with her ladies from the 50's with their sassy sayings. In this attempt I started with two American Art Stamps stamps, the woman with a plunger saying "Cheers"(now hidden by the rose) and the rose stamp (used as background on the pink paper). The caption reads, "Don't get excited. Everything is coming up roses because that is all I planted.". I was actually practicing making paper grunge roses and ruffles and I thought this "modern" lady in her floral print dress and Converse tennis shoes was much more suited to the theme than any "vintage" type image I could find. I'm sure you'll agree that the attitude spans the decades!

The Moxie Fab World blog is featuring a "Taintor-tude Challenge". You are to pattern your card after the work of Anne Taintor, with her ladies from the 50's with their sassy sayings. Here my "Art Declassified" stamped lady is ready for love, "Be still my beating heart I cannot hear the tv". Talk about priorities! I used a Dymo Caption maker with the lower case script wheel with white on black to add a slightly modern twist. The word LOVE is cut out of pieces of velvet ribbon using the Sizzix "Girls are Weird" Sizzlets dies.
