My first stop at CHA Winter 2013 was to pick up my autographed copy of The Big Ass Book of Bling by Mark Montano. While waiting in line
I was introduced to what was one of the best new products I saw during the entire show, E6000
Spray Adhesive! This product is truly awesome!
It is in a pump bottle, water based, easy clean up, and best of all NO ODOR! Hard to believe for a spray adhesive, but I tried it, and everything they said about it appeared to be TRUE!
Ever had one of those days when you scanner doesn't want to play nice and you can't find a camera cord to save your life? So here is my entry in the Sparkle and Sprinkle November Sketch Challenge that was finally scanned 51 minutes after the entry deadline. The Sparkle n Sprinkle stamps I used came from Set 418 Nesties Ornaments and I also used G1033 Lacy Lilac Glitter. The ornaments were colored with Copic markers BV00, BV02 and BV04. The sparkle ribbon is from Michael's Celebrate it collection and the star jewel from Darice. I also used a McGill tag punch. I stamped with Memento Elderberry ink. Papers were in my stash. Next month I should not wait until the final day.NWFlamingohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05832920005752229026noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2972681477225420332.post-44793724517742701372012-10-10T10:43:00.002-07:002012-10-10T10:58:57.988-07:00Flight of Challenge (Sparkle N Sprinkle October)

So... I have been getting around to the Sparkle N Sprinkle challenges for a long time, but never really got around to them.
I finally got "a round tuit". You can see the challenge sketch to the right and my entry below. In order to get the stamp and background papers to come out true to color it is a bit over exposed. I tried photographing outside the house in the yard (which really ticked off the neighbor dog, but that doesn't take much!) but that didn't help any.
The Christmas ornament stamp was cut out using Spellbinders Nestabilities 2010 Heirloom Ornament die. The tree was cut from a green flocked cardstock (unknown) using Sizzix Framelets Banners, Pennant Scallop. I used the Sizzix Big Shot to cut both.

The stamps were stamped with Memento ink, Lady bug Red and Tuxedo Black.

I cut and "sculpted" the Poinsettias using Nellie Snellen Floral Punches, 012, 013, 014 using Neenah Solar white card stock. (I stamped on that card stock too.)

The stamp and punched poinsettias were colored using Copic markers. I used G07, Y13, R24, R27 and R29.

The card base is from American Crafts Christmas "Treetops Glisten". The tree trunk is from a Basic Grey basics kraft paper pad.

The red gems are from KaiserCraft. The star gem is from Darice. The ornament is "hanging" from a piece of Aunt Lydia's Crochet Thread colored with Copics. Other than my trusty Beacon 3 in 1 glue I think that completes my product list. Imagine that. A blog just vegetating for almost a year while life got in the way. Yet suddenly I felt motivated to breathe a breath of life into it and enter this week's challenge on the Riley and Company blog. It must be the scent of fall in the air and the perpetual "cuteness" of Riley the Moose that made me do it. So without further ado, let me introduce you to the challenge of the scrapling as described on the Riley blog:

"this week we are creatingScraplings for the challenge.

So what are scraplings???? Scraplings are normally 1.25" x 4.25" because they are often made from the off cuts you get when you make a square card (4.25" square) from a piece of card that is 4.25" x 5.5". However if you are like me your scraplings may be a little wider depending on what you are working on at the time. Now for me 1.25" is way too narrow and I normally have wider card then that left over so you can makes yours wider .... BUT for this challenge they cannot be any wider then 2.5 inches that is for the base of the scrapling ... you can have wider pieces hanging off your scrapling if you like, but that is up to you."

In my scraps I first found the brown card stock, 2 1/2" by 11". That can be my card. Then I spied an irregular piece of yellow that had been "attacked by a Cricut". I managed to salvage a piece a little under 2 1/2" by 5 1/2" to serve as the scrapling base. Next I pondered a Riley image. There was Riley "Under The Tree". I quickly stamped out two of these with Momento Tuxedo Black ink on Neenah Solar white card stock and colored both with my Copics. One I left intact and the other I started cutting up. I cut out Riley's arm, belly and legs into one piece which I foam taped on top of the first image to give Riley his cute little round belly look. Then I started cutting out the leaf clusters and applied some on the ground, to cover the flower in the base image and to cover the butterfly in the base image. Next I pawed through the "tree and leaf" stamp drawer where I found the "leaves are falling" image from studio g. I stamped that directly onto the yellow scrapling using "Rich Cocoa" Momento ink and colored it too with Copics. Looking through the embossing folder stash I found a bare tree limb folder in the Cuttlebug "Give a Hoot" collection and used it to emboss about the top 3/4 of the yellow scrapling using the Big Shot. Next I glued my base Riley image into place before mounting the scrapling onto the brown card. This didn't quite look finished so it was back to the stamp drawer where I found the Aspen leaf by Alexstamping. It got stamped three times onto Neenah Solar white with Momento Rich Cocoa and colored with Copics before being mounted on onto the scrapling with foam tape.
I saw this image in the UK magazine Simply Cards & Papercrafts (Issue 88) and I had to use it. It is in the digi-stamps and sentiments by David Parkins page insert. Though the photo doesn't show the dimension well the little leaves are some I pulled off an oak leaf mini garland and are actually silk. The ribbon was floating loose in the drawer so I don't remember its source. The same goes for the light blue card paper. The light brown paper is a page out of an old Sizzix catalog and was just the right color. Every thing else was colored with Copic markers.
This one is called Door & Poultry. This all started on August 2, 2001 so you can go back to that post to see the stamp credits. I recently read that today only 16% of Americans are considered to be living in "Rural America". You don't know what you are missing living in the city. I have a black and white cat( and many others in a rainbow of colors) outside my door quite often. I've had a brown dog outside my door and a Dalmatian used to live across the street. There are horses and chickens next door. Pigs and cows live nearby. Quite a few hamburgers and BBQs are in the area. I didn't make an ATC with a peacock or an ostrich or a slug or a frog or a praying mantis outside the door, but I've had them all. I've lived in other rural areas and had deer regularly outside my door. Once there was a bear. Some days it's the Schwan's man at the door, or the Watkin's lady, or the Avon lady, or the "Church" lady or man. In years past I've even had a student asking for help with their homework! Grab a door stamp and create your own Door ATC series!NWFlamingohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05832920005752229026noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2972681477225420332.post-14611128454876319472011-08-19T14:42:00.000-07:002011-08-19T14:46:14.555-07:00Flight of a closed door, day eightHere is a pink piggy with some friends outside the door. It was a lot of fun using Copic markers to do all the coloring. Some of them even include use of the air brush at which I am a real novice. The animal stamps all came from Crop Chocolate and are part of the Basic Grey Limited Edition Epsilon set. The door, many of the foliage items, and the pots and baskets are from the two English Garden sets by Art Impressions. Some of the other leaves and flowers are from Rubber Stamp Tapestry. I hope you enjoy this series of Artist Trading Cards. Today's card is called Door & Brown Puppy.NWFlamingohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05832920005752229026noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2972681477225420332.post-1733635104298831022011-07-05T16:41:00.000-07:002011-07-05T17:38:55.336-07:00Flight of Cool, Green and Shady Creativity
Since I became "Copic Certified" I have just been a Copic coloring fool. Practice, practice practice. I pulled out this stamp from Rubber Stamp Avenue and I'm trying all sorts of
experiments on this leafy lady. I colored her face with E000 first and then added E00 on the left and then blended with E000. Then in some places I added a little E02 and then blended using E00. I was trying to get the effect of the light coming from the lower right. Lips were colored with R02 and R20. I don't remember what greens/blues I used. I cut leaves with my Slice (Spring Design card) and assorted punches from Emagination, Punch Bunch and unknown, since they didn't put their logo on the punch. Some of the leaves were folded in half and then ran through my Fiskars crimper to give them veins. I used foam tape on some of them to give the card a little dimension. This was the first time to use my Making Memories Tag Curler that I bought from Crop Chocolate. I ran one of the YG Copics over the Happy Birthday on the metal tag though you can barely make it out in the photo. The ribbon is also Making Memories (Cheeky Trim - appropriate, huh!) also from Crop Chocolate. I printed the inside sentiment with my computer on Green Gingko paper that I bought at Tuesday Morning. Unfortunately they didn't identify the manufacturer. I'll probably give this away in August when somebody could use a little cool and green and shady!
NWFlamingohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05832920005752229026noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2972681477225420332.post-16810100539817550252011-07-01T00:00:00.000-07:002011-07-01T09:08:03.028-07:00Flight of Blog Hoppin'Greetings! What would it do if it could somehow escape its cyber world and get out into the real world. I'm sure it would want to ride away on a bike. So this card is in honor of my blog.

To create it I used my Making Memories Slice with a Slice Travel design card and the middle sized Slice embossing tip, a hands free Slice collar and the embossing side of the hands free Slice mat on a piece of medium weight aluminum. I colored the embossed words and bike with Copic markers (100, Y15, R29). I made "tire tracks" on the top and bottom of the metal with one of my Ten Second Studios design wheels. Next I used my Making Memories Instant setter to punch holes in the metal and red cardstock and then used it to set the four black eyelets. I ran the yellow cardstock through the Sizzix Texture Boutique inside a Sizzix "Twizzle" embossing folder. I cut two small pieces of Celebrate It Basic Basic Red Metallic ribbon (from Michael's) and taped it down to the yellow card stock with my big pink Scotch ATG. Using the same tool I taped the red card stock to the yellow and the yellow to the black card. You can't expect me to be that merry every day! Today Mega Merry by Stampendous is decked out in green Prismacolor pencils.
The inside "christmas" is also from the Mega Merry set and the tree inside is a Hero Arts stamp. The red glitter strips were done with strips of American Crafts glitter card stock and the red glitter stars that sit atop the confetti trees were punched from the same card stock with an old fashioned type star punch. The source of the background paper is unknown.
NWFlamingohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05832920005752229026noreply@blogger.com0
