Flight of Challenge (365 cards- Day 120 & Pile It On! +2))

This was Sunday's 365 Cards sketch. It wasn't easy. The beach ball hangs off the side and the solid yellow paper behind has nothing to do with the card, it is just background. Yesterday I started weeding my vegetable garden. Today I finished. From my perspective, "Summer's hot".
Disclaimer: I haven't been to the beach yet this summer, it usually isn't very hot in Oregon at the beach, and I don't wear bikinis.

This card has four challenges. Let's count.

One: 365 Cards Day 120 - Super Sketchy Sunday
Two: Pile It On! - Button It Up! - Use at least four buttons. These are the teeny tiniest buttons I have ever seen. They were red, so I used a Sharpie marker to turn them black. If you can't tell the 4th one is the "o" in hot. I can't remember where or when I bought them and there is nothing on the package to suggest their origin.
Three: A Spoon Full of Sugar - Summer
Four: TCP Tuesday 65 Color Challenge - Use Teal, Sunshine and raspberry

Credits:

Letters - Sizzix "Long" Die - Monde de Blonde
Shape Dies - Triangle and ovals by Spellbinders
Epoxy stickers(bikinis) - A Juicy Story Stickers from The Dollar Store
Cardstocks- Wausau
Polka dot paper - unknown
Punches - Two circles used to paper piece the beachball - EK Success, Wave and scalloped circle - Fiskars

Flight of Challenge (Pile It On! + 2)

First of all I want to invite all the Michael Jackson fans to visit my previous post of the day that is a tribute card to Michael. You can see it HERE. It is sad that I waited until the present circumstances before I used the stamp. Since most of you direct linked here I thought I would point it out so you don't miss it.

Now to today's challenge card. I have "Piled It On!" with three challenges represented. Let's count.

ONE: Pile It On #4 - Button It Up! - Use at least four buttons.
TWO: Stamp Something - Embellished Something - Use at least three embellishments. I used four buttons so that is four embellishments.
THREE: 365 Cards - Day 121 - Four Seasons - Use all four seasons on your card.

Credits:
Stencil : Dreamweaver (Four Seasons) BTW, I have trouble with this stencil as the holes are so small. I love the image but I have trouble using it with a stylus and dry embossing with the Wizard isn't too satisfactory either. I have tried chalk stenciling and stenciling with chalk pigment inks and I'm never happy with the results. I used Ultra Fine Point Sharpie Markers on this and the leaf shape isn't very defined. Anybody else have this stencil and had great success?
Buttons: Favorite Findings - Blumenthal Lansing Company
Inks: Ranger Distress Inks - Old Paper and Pine Needles
Card: Hot Off The Press

Flight of Honor (CPS #121)

I never got around to doing an entry for Card Positioning System Sketch #121, but I thought Michael Jackson fans might appreciate a tribute to Michael and I thought the big old star in that sketch was appropriate to use! My tastes run to the likes of John Denver, David Mallett, and now days Brett Dennen, but Michael was "interesting" and his music not at all unpleasant and some of it was quite "catchy". He was an outstanding entertainer! Just like John Denver he died too soon to make his big come back.

I typed out on the computer a listing of Michael's 18 No. 1 hits from 1969 to 1995 (according to USA Today newspaper). The stamp is from a Portland, Oregon company STAMP OUT ART known for their "celebrity" stamps. Hope you enjoy this salute to the "King of POP".

P.S. Since this is mostly Black and White and even contains the song title "Black and White" this may be okay to include in Rosie and Dee's Challenge #41. I didn't run into their challenge until after I finished this today but I noticed there was some color on their samples too.

Flight of Challenge (365 cards- Day 116)

The 365 Cards Challenge today is Keep It To Yourself: Wedding Card (the message should be clear without using a sentiment). I have used this image over and over for wedding cards as I think it is perfect for the occasion. No two cards have ever been the same. I usually try to color the hair to match the bride and groom. I have a feeling yesterday's card scared people, though to a 20 something guy it would be perfectly acceptable! Hopefully with all this gooey sweetness today I have redeemed myself. LOL!

Flight of Challenge (Pile It On! + 3)

I saw these duck stamps being used on someone's blog and I ordered them last week when Addicted To Rubber Stamps had a sale. I thought they worked great with this sketch from 365 cards. I also included the insides (bottom photo). Of course, as part of the current mania that is sweeping the bloglines, I have Piled It ON! Let's count the challenges.

One: 365 Cards - Day 113 Super Sketchy Sunday (see top image)
Two: Pile It On! - Use purple (not hard, it is one of my favorites!)
Three: Stamp Something - Black, White and one color somethings
Four: Getting Creative with Ann - GCA #46 - All about the Man (or Drake, in this case, HA!)

Flight of Challenge (Pile It On! + 2)

Today I made a "shot pile" for Piling It On! Only three challenges, but since there is quite a bit on the front (top photo) I think more would be overkill. The inside of the card (bottom photo) is ready for any sentiment later on. Let's count the challenges:

One: Pile It On! #3 - Purple (use purple somewhere on your card)
Two: Rubbernecker Wacky Wednesday #16 - Use an oval on your card
Three: Stampin' B's Challenge #11 - Use the watercoloring technique (The larger violets on the front were watercolored.)

Stamps: Large violet - Cowtown Rubber Stamps, Flower Word Background - Hero Arts, Tiny Dots - Stamps By Judith, Small Violet - Stampendous, All other tiny stamps - Rubber Stamp Tapestry

Flight of Challenge (365 cards- Day 108)

365 Cards challenge for Day 108 was Oh Boy! - create a masculine card, but not for an adult.
This one set an all time speed record for QUICK!

Credits:
Stamp: Rubber Stampede (but Stamabilities has the rights to Peanuts images now)
Embossing Folder - Cuttlebug
Cardstocks: Wausau
Triangle punch: Marvy
Markers: Crayola
Ink: Memories - Black

Flight of Challenge (365 cards- Day 107)

Playing 365 catch up brings me to Day 107 - So Girly. We must use the word "girl" and make it girly. Hope you count plural "girls" as "Just for Girl" sounds ridiculous! The middle layer is a piece of cardboard sprayed with "an experiment" of glitter and ink and water put into a spray bottle which didn't really work, but looks okay around the edges for its current use.

Flight of Challenge (Rubbernecker Wacky Wed. #16)

Today I took a vacation from Piling It On! and made one card using one challenge. I know you are probably disappointed but I didn't want any ribbon on this card so I couldn't Pile It On! today . What you see here is the front (middle) and inside (bottom) of my entry for the Rubbernecker Wacky Wednesday #16, make a card that contains ovals. On top is my inspiration for the card, a panda I met at the Chengdu Panda Breeding and Research Center in China last October. The bamboo forest background was created first by applying assorted alcohol inks and Marvy Metallic marker in green to Kromecote paper and then giving it a blast with canned air. That resulted in a blob and a headache as that canned air stuff contains something that smells like cleaning fluid. To get a better bamboo forest-like effect I then applied more alcohol ink using the "squirt on felt, spritz with 99% isopropyl alcohol, pounce on
white glossy paper" method. This gave me a more pleasant result that really does resemble the lush bamboo forests.

Flight of Challenge (365 cards- Day 106 & 5 more)

I'm definitely not going to make all the 365 Cards challenges this week. Here I am starting with Sunday and it is already Wednesday. There are too many weeds to pull outside! And of course there is this Pile It On! phenomena that takes time to research so you can get the maximum number of challenges combined in one card. I think I have seven today. Let's count!

ONE: 365 Cards Day 106 Super Sketchy Sunday (Remember you have until Saturday to complete). The sketch is above.
TWO: Pile It On! Challenge #2 Wrapped Up In... Use at least two different ribbons. I put ribbon in the buttons.
THREE: Rosie and Dee Week 39 - Turquoise and Chocolate ( Notice I wanted to please everybody as I have bothe MILK Chocolate and my favorite DARK Chocolate!
FOUR: The Buck Stamps Here - Quickie 10 minute card. It only took 10 minutes to make once I decided on the challenges to include! (Challenge for week starting Monday, June 15.)
FIVE: Secret Crafter Challenge #36 - In the Jungle... besides the chimp there are other critters such as frogs, lizards and Dragonflies in the embossing on the turquoise paper.
SIX: Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge... to be inspired by a Kim Poloson poster. I chose
Back to the GardenII as a "loose" inspiration.
SEVEN: Flutterby Wednesday #62 - Have a fairy or butterfly somewhere on your card.
I think adding any thing else would have been over the top!

Flight of Challenge (365 cards- Day 105)

It's "Sing Along Saturday" at  365 Cards where it tells us to let the song "Rainbow Connection" inspire your card today. Unless you are Kermit The Frog and you know the words by heart, click on over and give it a listen and come back to see if I made the "Rainbow Connection".

Flight of Challenge (365 cards- Day 104 &SSYTT 6/6 09)

Today at 365 Cards the challenge is Imagine This: Grass.  Of course you must use grass somewhere in your design.  Even though you may not be able to tell in the photo I assembled the front of the card and then used a Nestie to cut a rectangle through all layers so I could put a piece of transparency film in the window to stick the sticker on and then color.  The grass paper is inside the card where you write. The sketch I used is from i(heart)2stamp  Sketch For You To Try of June 6. I'm getting in under the wire on that one!

Flight of Challenge (365 cards- Day 103)

365 Cards  has a card recipe for today.  The recipe reads:
4.25 X 5.5 card
Solid Background
Two patterned papers
Stamped Sentiment
Three Jewels
First I "cooked up" the front of the card (top photo) and then using the same recipe I went ahead and "whipped up" the inside(bottom photo). You can click on either photo to enlarge for details.  This was a quick and easy recipe to feed your card making needs!

Flight of Challenge (365 cards- Day 102 & Pile It On!)

After the broccoli birthday card yesterday, I'm moving on to bugs.  Actually 365 Cards challenge for today, CHALLENGE COMBO, asks you to combine three previous 365 challenges.  You must use one from March, one from April and one from May. I chose challenges I hadn't participated in previously. Here are my choices:

March Day 30- Don't Bug Me, I'm Scrapping (Create a card with a ladybug as your inspiration.)
April Day 33 - White Space (Use only the top 1/3 or bottom 1/3 of your card, leaving the other 2/3 blank.)
May Day 80 - You're so plaid - (Make sure plaid is involved in your card.)

Because I got so involved in "Piling it On" yesterday I might point out that
this card also includes two additional 365 Cards from the past that I did participate in.
Day 74 - Handwritten sentiment
Day 81 - It's hip to be square (Use 5 squares.)

By golly... that handwritten sentiment is a NON-STAMPED SENTIMENT so this also qualifies for this week's "Pile It On" challenge.  Guess I'm lucky I didn't have anything appropriate to stamp.

Punch : Ladybug by Martha Stewart
Hand written sentiment: Black 05 Micron Pigma Pen by Sakura

Flight of Challenge (Pile It On! plus 4)

WooHoo!  Somebody has started the mother lode of challenge sites, Pile It On!  The object of the game is to use the weekly Pile It On Challenge with as many other current challenges as you can.  I think I have a total of five on this one.  Let's count!
ONE:  Pile It On! - Use a non-stamped sentiment.
TWO:  Sketches (by Tamara) - see the top image above (http://sketchesbytamara.blogspot.com/2009/06/layout-sketch-99.html)
THREE:  365 Cards Day 101 - Fun with Food: Veggies- Create a card with a veggie (Wonder how many more broccoli cards we will see? (http://365cards.blogspot.com/)
FOUR:  Spoon Full of Sugar #45 - Butterflies (I've got them inside (second photo from top) and outside (bottom photo). (http://aspoonfullofsugarchallenge.blogspot.com/)
FIVE:  Secret Crafter #35 - Bling ( I've got jewels and sparkly butterfly stickers... that's bling!

Now for credits:

Stamps:  Broccoli - Self carved with Nasco Safety Cut, Spaced out person (inside) - Zettiology, Grid - Stamp Francisco (Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers)
Cardstock:  Dark green from a pack I bought about 13 years ago at Grocery Outlet, company unknown.
Paper:  Light green - DCWV, peach - Fox River, "letter" green- from a package I bought at a Paper Parachute garage sale, no idea if it is their product or another company.
Letters:  Sizzix Die- Monde de Blonde Decorative strip
Jewels:  Mark Richards
Butterfly stickers: Sandylion
Ink:  Ancient Page Pine by Clearsnap
Inside sentiment was printed on the computer.

P.S.  If you can't make out the inside of the card I think it will get bigger if you click on it.  I had to get creative to use broccoli as a theme on a birthday card!

P.S.S.  If anybody knows how to make all the page references hot links I would like a lesson!

Flight of Challenge (CPS 119 and 365 Cards Day 100)

Given the problems I had photographing the last card to look like it was supposed to I saw this message stamp in the drawer and thought it would be appropriate for my next card.  This combines two challenges, Card Positioning System's 119 sketch (see above) and 365 Cards' Day 100.  Day 1oo is called Manic Monday and requires the use of 5 bold colors on your card, RED, ORANGE, YELLOW, GREEN and BLUE ... no pastels. If you squint the big top and acrobats slightly resemble a butterfly too!

Flight of Challenge (Rubbernecker Wacky Wed. #14)

Before Wacky Wednesday comes around for another week on the Rubbernecker blog I thought I would give last Wednesday's challenge a twirl.  As you can see from the little picture this was a color challenge.  I managed to find enough scraps of paper in the scrap boxes of the correct color, but reproducing those colors in an image was quite the challenge itself.  Photographing inside didn't work.  Using the scanner didn't work.  I finally went outside and got true colors(more or less) but now there is a strange shadow across the middle of the card.  I thought one of the swirls was showing through but there is nothing underneath those yellow papers that could possibly be making that shadow.  Having wasted enough time on that I finally gave up and uploaded it as is.

Flight of Challenge (365 cards- Day 99)

I finally got organized and finished today's 365 Cards challenge, Super Sketchy Sunday.  I can't figure out why the scanner shaved off the bottom of the circles, but they are really round on the bottom.  We were also supposed to add a dragonfly image to the card, so that is on the card front.  I thought this was a very interesting sketch, don't you?

Flight of Challenge (Card Positioning System 118)

Here is my take on Card Positioning System's sketch 118.  The white embossed ribbon was salvaged off a potted plant and the shiny white "paper" is from a roll about 8" wide and is more plastic than paper.  I bought it at the Embossing Arts warehouse when they were still in Oregon before being bought out by Auntie Amy.  Credits for the rest are as follows:

Paper - Wausau
Flowers and brad- Hot Off The Press
36 guage aluminum tooling foil- St. Louis Crafts
Standard circle small Nestabilities and Paisley Impressabilities used with my Wizard - Spellbinders
Asstd. Adirondack Alcohol Inks - Ranger
Foil piece border made with a metal tooling wheel - Ten Second Studio
